40 years of history

From a small working group to over 3,200 employees worldwide. The growth achieved as a corporation in these 40 years is in line with our track record of success in the various areas we work in. Today we are a world-class technology company and an example for new generations to follow.

Juan José Martínez García, with a small core of associates, founded the industrial company Grupo de Mecánica del Vuelo, S.A. (GMV), the startup of what is at present the multinational technology group GMV.
The company’s headquarters were established in Aravaca in Madrid.
Design of the first logo, which was to remain with the company until 1994.
The subsidiary dedicated to the space and defense sectors is created.
The company moves to Tres Cantos outside of Madrid, its current headquarters.
SGI (now GMV Secure e-Solutions) was established, a GMV subsidiary dedicated to the ICT and internet sector and specializing in security.
The business unit dedicated to developing and marketing telematic applications for transportation is created.
Corporate rebranding: new logo and distinctive marks are born
Seville offices opened.
GMV set up the company Galileo Sistemas y Servicios, S.L. (GSS) together with the main companies of the national aerospace sector with the aim of promoting developing and leveraging Galileo.
GMV founder and chairman, Dr. Juan José Martínez García, dies, leading to a change in GMV’s executive structure. The position of executive general manager is created and the chairmanship is assumed by Dr. Mónica Martínez Walter.
A branch office is opened in Barcelona.
Start of international expansion with the creation of a subsidiary located in the USA.
GMV reasserts its international growth and development strategy with the takeover of 58% of the Portuguese company Skysoft, an operation that is completed two years later with the takeover of 100%.
Revision and unification of GMV’s corporate identity under a common brand for all the companies of the business group.
GMV acquired 66% of the capital of Masisconvi, SA, a company specializing in the design, development, manufacture and marketing of advanced card payment solutions, a deal it will complete four years later with the takeover of 100%.
Opening of the Valencia branch office.
Opening of commercial offices in Asia in Malaysia, creation of a subsidiary in Warsaw, Poland, and establishment of a new subsidiary in Darmstadt, Germany.
GMV opens a new office in Romania.
Incorporation of a new subsidiary in France.
GMV opens an office in Colombia.
Incorporation of a new subsidiary in the United Kingdom. The company makes a strategic equity investment in Syncromatics Corp.
Merger agreement of GMV’s German subsidiary with INSYEN AG, a leading German company in the field of space mission operations.
GMV, through its subsidiary Syncromatics, has acquired 100% of Mobilitat Works Inc.
Merger of GMV’s UK subsidiary with the company NSL, specializing in navigation and critical applications.
Opening of a permanent office in Brussels.
GMV acquires a stake in the German cybersecurity firm InstaSolution (now Almefy).
Merger agreement between GMV and Alén Space, Spain’s pioneering New Space startup.
GMV, together with TECNOBIT-Grupo Oesia and SENER Aeroespacial, found the company SATNUS Technologies S.L. to coordinate its activity in the FCAS program.
GMV joins ESCRIBANO Mechanical & Engineering and SENER Aerospace in the SMS initiative to work together in the missile systems area.
GMV completes the takeover of Syncromatics, which from then on began to operate under the GMV SYNCROMATICS brand.
Opening of the Zaragoza branch office.
Incorporation of a new subsidiary in The Netherlands.
