Always committed to excellence, service quality, and dedication to our clients, collaborators, and partners. Thank you all for accompanying us during these 40 years in which we have forged strong bonds and where innovation and commitment to a job well done have placed us at the forefront of technology. Thank you for your kind words on our anniversary!
40 years of excellence
The government of Spain is committed to space, with ambitious initiatives such as the first Spanish Space Agency (AEE) and promotion of new Space Act legislation for the country. However, none of this would be possible without our ability to rely upon the innovative talent of collaborators like GMV. This is a company with a thorough technical knowledge, based on everything from developing advanced propulsion technologies to exploring new horizons in space. Of course, curiosity is also an important part of this desire to always go one step further.
These have been 40 years of challenges for the company, and I know that there will be many more ahead, as GMV continues to play a significant role in making humanity’s most ambitious dreams come true in space.
Happy 40th Anniversary!
GMV’s remarkable industrial capabilities in the fields of aeronautics, space, electronics, and simulation have led to a close collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, and the company has played a fundamental role in security and defense projects of national and international importance, while also strengthening connections between Spain’s public and private sectors. All of this has made a substantial contribution to our country’s technological progress and national security.
We’d like to congratulate everyone at GMV for reaching this significant milestone, and we enthusiastically look forward to witnessing your future accomplishments as we continue to work together.
GMV is an example we often use to show what the path of these emerging companies, which we now call start-ups, should be: companies that must have the ambition to become multinational leaders, and their entrepreneurs, true businesspeople. From that spin-off 40 years ago to this business group, there is a lot of work from many talented people. Congratulations GMV! Here’s to the next 40 years!
Clearly, the theme chosen for this commemoration, “Excellence and Beyond”, accurately reflects the company’s values, because during these last four decades, GMV has solidified its position as an aerospace leader in Spain’s defense industry, and in others as well, and it has played an essential role in developing some of our Air and Space Force’s most important programs.
I have no doubt that GMV will remain in that position, because of its ongoing commitment to innovation, quality, and technological leadership. All of this will guarantee many years of growth and excellence, and will strengthen GMV’s collaboration with us, as we continue to develop key capabilities in flight and in space.
I hope that this anniversary will mark the beginning of a new and exciting stage for GMV.
GMV’s story is one marked by innovation, growth, and a commitment to technological excellence, from its earliest days as a startup created by a small group of engineers, until reaching its current status as a multinational tech firm with a leadership position in multiple fields. Clearly, GMV has already had a significant impact on the technology sector.
I would like to congratulate GMV staff for its commitment and performance but also its executive management to succeed to master this growth by going outside of the box while reinforcing its know-how at each stage to make GMV a sustainable and reliable key space actor for the EU!
What I would like to highlight is the GMV capacities to innovate, to hear the customer needs, to correct what doesn’t work through a fast manner, to fight to get a new market as a warrior mindset!
Please continue on this way through a clear vision!
The future belongs to the European leaders as you!
That “Flight Mechanics Group”, which gave rise to the company known as GMV, was part of what was then called the School of Aeronautical Engineering (now the School of Aeronautical and Space Engineering), and in my view, the company’s story should be included as a case study in the many “Innovation” and “Entrepreneurship” master’s degree programs that have become so popular these days. During these last 40 years, GMV has also served as role model for public-private collaboration, and has demonstrated how much progress we can make when we work together. Happy anniversary GMV!
The collaborative journey between Eutelsat Group and GMV has been a testament to innovation and partnership. Since as early as 1995 and over the years, our shared history has witnessed remarkable evolution, characterized by mutual trust and a commitment to pushing boundaries in ground segment technology. From pioneering early projects to meet the highly demanding requirements for accurately computing flight dynamics for the Eutelsat Group fleet of satellites and safely controlling increasingly sophisticated spacecraft, to navigating the complexities of implementing Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to autonomously optimize the configuration of available satellite payload resources, Eutelsat Group and GMV have continually elevated standards delivering cutting-edge solutions that have redefined possibilities. This partnership has not only constituted a win-win scenario for both companies but has also significantly contributed to technological advancements beneficial to the global space industry (Quantum CMRS being one of the last example).
Together, we have forged a legacy of excellence, shaping the future and leaving an indelible mark on the industry, which we trust will continue in the years to come.
Through my position at INCIBE, I’ve been able to witness the significant impact that GMV has had on the world of technology, not just in Spain but also at a global level. The company’s commitment to excellence, and its constant pursuit of creative solutions, has allowed it to emerge as a role model over the course of these last four decades.
I have no doubt that GMV will now continue its work with passion, which has become the company’s defining characteristic. Here’s to 40 years of success, and many more to come. Let’s keep making history together!
GMV, innovation, and entrepreneurship have always gone hand-in-hand, and this has been an essential part of developing the company’s excellent international reputation. GMV made a decisive commitment to space, and on that basis, it has now become the top worldwide provider of satellite control centers, as well as Europe’s sixth largest corporate group in the space industry.
The Spanish Space Command needs committed companies like GMV, with their leading-edge technologies and the experience necessary to produce effective and adaptable operational solutions. I know that this remarkable anniversary will be just the beginning of a fantastic future in space, as we continue to make history together.
I especially want to congratulate everyone at GMV for their impressive dedication and work efforts, which I have witnessed on our projects.
So from everyone here at Cintra, the highway infrastructure subsidiary of Ferrovial S.E., we wish you a happy anniversary. I hope that you will never stop innovating, because you still have an exciting future in front of you. Here’s to 40 more years!
About 30 years ago, or in other words, 10 years after it was founded, GMV created a new line of business in the field of cybersecurity, further demonstrating its status as a pioneering company. Today, GMV has become a key player and a member of an exclusive club of private-sector companies with the ability to bring digital sovereignty to Spain and the European Union, while at the same time moving forward with its international expansion.
I’m happy to celebrate 40 years of making history, and here’s to the future too!
There, just outside of Madrid, in our municipality 179 better known as Tres Cantos, you have built up a multinational technology firm that now has a presence in more than 80 countries, by designing innovative solutions for highly demanding industries such as aerospace, defense, and intelligent transportation systems.
I know that our region’s entire public transportation system, including the Madrid Metro, the Madrid Regional Transportation Consortium, and several of the concessionaire companies that operate our urban and intercity bus lines, have benefited greatly from your knowledge, skill, and experience, and from the advanced models that have improved the quality, safety, and reliability of a system that collectively transports more than 5.5 million passengers each day.
If we believe the words of the famous tango song that says “20 years is nothing”, then 40 years is doubly nothing. Of course, in reality I think it is much more appropriate to say that you have done quite a lot, although it may seem like nothing when we think about how much GMV will be going on to do in the future.
The very accurate motto you have chosen for this commemoration, “Excellence and Beyond”, reflects your nonconformist ambitions, and your desire to follow a path that goes even further than excellence, to engage with that ever-changing frontier that like the limits of our universe, seems to expand every day and become more difficult, more complex, and more unknown.
Science and technology embody the world’s hopes, as we contend with a series of vital challenges, and I have no doubt that GMV will continue to make valuable contributions towards confronting those challenges and overcoming them.
I’m able to personally share in the happiness and pride of this anniversary, because I’ve witnessed more than half of that remarkable journey, and I’ve seen how a commitment to innovation “and beyond”, as embodied in this outstanding Spanish multinational tech firm, has left its strongest mark in the form of the excellence displayed by the company’s people and teams.
For those of us working in the fields of public transportation and mobility, which are essential driving forces of urban life and progress, our responsibility for selecting technology providers requires us to understand that projects will turn into programs, and that reliability is fundamental. Fortunately for us, during all these years GMV has always understood this too, and has never failed to honor its commitments.
Our most sincere congratulations!
Along with the rest of our members, GMV sets an example to be followed, while also giving visibility and recognition to the constant, remarkable evolution of the space industry in Spain, which is having such an important on the country, its economy, and its progress.
We had developed a very ambitious and innovative plan, which required breaking out of the technological silos that had existed up until then. We were trying to replace our earlier approach with a set of independent systems interconnected through a local network, with interaction via TMB’s proprietary data model.
Our overall plan required execution of a significant number of projects, which ultimately were executed brilliantly over the course of the following years: a new computer-aided dispatch / automatic vehicle location system for the entire fleet, integrated communications using the TETRA voice and data system, a message announcement and video surveillance system on the entire fleet of buses, real-time images for the light rail trains, etc.
Personally, I was especially impressed by the professionalism and dedication of GMV’s technical team, the vision of the company’s management, and the quality of the solutions provided. Ever since then, GMV has been one of our essential partners, and we have always been very satisfied with their ability to support our ongoing advances.
This is why we’re happy to congratulate GMV on its 40th anniversary, and to express our thanks for all these things!
After a successful R&D process for its TALOS system, which the Army has been employing through a variety of deliverables, the latest version of this software has been added to the Army’s inventory. This is strengthening our integration with other systems, while also ensuring effective evolutionary maintenance. The TALOS system has also been implemented in ongoing operations involving mounted mortars, where it has earned the designation of “combat proven” after its capabilities were demonstrated in live-fire situations.
TALOS will continue to be a central command and control element in our artillery units, through its inclusion in the ZEUS program as an integral part of the command and control software for the “Digital Combat Brigade”.
In addition, GMV is a leading company in terms of integrating inertial and satellite-based navigation into our systems, including armaments and our VERT and 8x8 tactical vehicles, to support our need for strategic autonomy in this area.
The capacity for innovation and development that GMV has demonstrated, both within Spain and at the European level, where it participates in numerous projects, is based on reliable quality and a secure commitment to our future.
Also in that same year, Spain’s national basketball team won the country’s first Olympic medal in that sport in Los Angeles, a city known as a world capital of basketball. It was a remarkable achievement, which announced to the world that Spain would no longer remain on the sidelines, in that sport or in anything else. And over the course of the last 40 years, GMV has become a legendary team, just like that basketball team led by Juan Antonio Corbalán, and the company has evolved into a group of internationally known and respected leaders and role models, just like the members of Spain’s national basketball team today. Congratulations!
Even back then GMV stood out, by bringing together a constant urge to explore new frontiers of knowledge with the type of entrepreneurial spirit typical of technological startups. Since those earliest days working in the field of Orbital Mechanics, GMV has grown into a company with a portfolio of projects that cover a diversified range of fields, such as space, defense, cybersecurity, intelligent transportation systems, effects calculation, mission systems, and guidance, navigation, and control systems.
Throughout all these years, GMV has known how to stay connected with its roots in research, while expressing its innovative nature and a high level of technical rigor. All of this has made it possible for the company to address even the most complex problems with a engineering-based approach.
Congratulations to GMV, and many thanks too, for your outstanding technical contributions to Spain’s development, defense, and security. We now wish you the best of luck in taking on the new challenges that lie ahead.
However, using “excellence” as part of the theme selected for the celebration of GMV’s 40th anniversary is definitely right on target.
From the time when the company was first founded back in 1984, as a spin-off of the Flight Mechanics Group from the Technical University of Madrid’s School of Aeronautical Engineering, and all the way through to the present day, everything GMV has done has clearly been “excellent”. In particular, this includes its ability to hire the best students from each university graduating class, at first from among those with degrees in Aeronautical Engineering, but then as the company continued to expand, it began to hire other types of engineers and scientists from a whole range of disciplines.
Congratulations to the entire GMV family! Now we’ll be looking forward to your 50th, 75th, and 100th anniversaries too, and beyond!
Congratulations for your outstanding work, and for the successes you’ve achieved over the course of all these years. They are the result of your ongoing innovation, which has been essential for driving the digital transformation in our society and for retaining our talent here in Castile and León.
Your dedication and vision of the future, which have been your defining characteristics since your company’s earliest days, have now made you a leader in multiple industries where you offer your efficient and innovative solutions.
For all of this, we now offer our congratulations and best wishes for another 40 years!
Our relationship began back in 1986 with the SPICA Program, which studied active electronic countermeasures that could interfere with the final guidance of anti-ship missiles, and it continues today with a variety of projects for the F110 Frigate Program, where GMV’s SENDA navigation system is a major highlight. This is a robust positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) system that can combine information from multiple global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) with other navigation data sources, to provide the positioning and time reference data required by various onboard systems.
Meanwhile, we have also been jointly confronting a whole series of other technological challenges, and this is evidenced by the fact that GMV has now contributed its mark of excellence to practically all of the Spanish Navy’s vessels.
All of us here at the Logistics Support Command greatly appreciate these 40 years of collaboration, and we wish you ongoing success in the future, because we know that some of those successes will benefit not only Spain’s defense industry and Navy, but also the country as a whole.
Fast forward several years, and GMV again engaged with enthusiasm on a much larger initiative—leading the transition to Dual Frequency, Multiple Constellation Satellite-Based Augmentation System, and the simultaneous transformation of the delivery model for SBAS-as-a-service. From the beginning, GMV brought the finest talent and the best ideas for delivering value to customers and end users. Innovation has always been at the heart of GMV.
Those of us who have been familiar with GMV for many years know that the company has always had some remarkable characteristics: leading-edge technical capabilities, the ability to take on complex projects, a strong spirit of innovation, and a flexible, client-centered approach. All of these have allowed GMV to take on new challenges while also (and although this may sound a bit strange when referring to an aerospace company) keeping its feet on the ground, which is something we always look for when seeking out long-term partners.
For all of the reasons above, it is now a pleasure to share the happiness of this 40th anniversary celebration.
Mediaset was already one of GMV’s clients then, and we still are today. I hope our collaboration will continue, because we know that we can always rely upon GMV for outstanding products and services, delivered on time, by qualified professionals. In other words, excellence in every aspect of the product. We also know that we will always be working with a company that can serve as a role model, in terms of the quality of its people, its values, and its reputation. We often hear suppliers bragging about their clients, but sometimes clients can brag about their suppliers too, and this is the case for us with GMV. Congratulations on your 40th anniversary.
We would like to congratulate everyone at GMV on the company’s 40th anniversary, and we look forward to having GMV as one of our leading technology firms in the aerospace, defense, and ICT industries for at least another 40 years, with sustainable growth, many technological advances, and an abundance of success.
Some of our cooperative programs with GMV now seem like part of the distant past: our first collaboration agreements in the early 1990s, working on the digitalization process for Spain’s infrastructure, and the company’s entry into the space industry. Now we all have new challenges to face, but we know that GMV’s future will be one filled with even more success stories. Congratulations!
